In a previous article you can read here we mentioned the effects of Dienogest on bone density. The results of that study were not very gratifying, unfortunately. However, this time, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Tokyo published last autumn a study on the effects of Dienogest on patients with adenomyosis.
The study focused on a target group of patients who had undergone hysterectomy for adenomyosis. Half of the participants received treatment with Dienogest before hysterectomy, and the other half did not receive any treatment.
During the study, the proliferation of adenomyosis-specific cells, vascular density, and nerve fibers were analyzed using specific analyzes, including the von Willenbrand factor. Aromatase expression as well as nerve growth factor were evaluated by staining for the corresponding antibodies.
The study findings show that adenomyosis in patients treated with Dienogest has remarkable histological features such as reduced specific cell proliferation and nerve fiber density. These results would reveal the impact of Dienogest on local histological events and explain its therapeutic effect on adenomyosis.
In other words, like many other treatments, Dienogest significantly reduces bone density but also has beneficial effects on slowing the growth of adenomyosis.
Benefiting from all this information, the decision you make when you are recommended to take Dienogest must be made in an informed manner, together with your doctor.
